Is Facebook Going to Start Charging Starting Saturday?

There’s yet another hoax going around and people are sharing it, hoping to keep their Facebook accounts open.

From Saturday morning, Facebook will start charging

This isn’t true. Please stop sharing it. It’s just someone’s idea of a joke and you look silly sharing it. They want to see if it comes back to them, that’s all.

The message in this image doesn’t even make sense:

“From Saturday morning facebook will become chargeable. If you have at least 10 contacts send them this message. In this way we will see that you are an avid user and your logo will become blue and remain free. (As discussed in the paper today. Facebook will cost 0.01ps per message. Send this message to 10 people. When you do the light will turn blue otherwise facebook will activate billing.”

First, it’s terrible English and grammar. Terrible.

I’m not sure what “0.01ps” is.

And if this was really happening, Facebook would announce it. They wouldn’t make someone with horrible English skills write up an image you have to share. Just think about that – it sounds very silly.

If you’re reading this page, someone might have posted this page as a link in a comment to this image you posted. If that’s the case, you need to stop believing everything you see and first investigate it before reacting. That’s a very emotional response (fear) instead of pausing for a moment and letting logic take over. So don’t react so quickly to things – that’s emotion. Take a pause, think, investigate, and use your head.

Let’s not make Facebook a place for this kind of junk.
